Thank You From the Groton Volunteer Fire Department

To the Editor,
On behalf of the Groton Volunteer Fire Department, I’d like to share a sincere thank you to Craig, Cindy, Brett, and Mandy Darling and everyone at C&C Auto right here in Groton.

They recently gave our 1954 Chevrolet—better known around town as E-2—a real second wind. With fresh paint, beautiful pinstriping, and some much-needed mechanical and electrical repairs, they brought this old truck back looking sharp and running strong.

E-2 has been part of Groton’s story for a long time. The department purchased it in 1954 as a cab and chassis from H.O. Taylor’s Chevrolet dealership in Wells River, and it originally carried a 200-gallon water tank. Over the years it responded to many calls, including a memorable forest fire back in 1993. These days, E-2 is mostly used for parades and funeral services—but it still pumps water, and it still means a lot to our members and to our community.

We’re also incredibly grateful for C&C Auto’s generous $1,000 donation to the Groton Fire Department. That kind of support matters. It helps us keep equipment in shape, continue training, and stay ready to serve when the tones drop.

Thank you again to the Darling family and the whole C&C Auto crew for your workmanship, your generosity, and for taking pride in helping preserve a piece of Groton history.

Sincerely,
Groton Volunteer Fire Department
